Burnt Butter Biscuits
Our Burnt Butter Biscuits are incredibly delicious and one that will please the whole family - sweet tooths and savoury lovers alike!
When you want to dazzle your guests with a simple and very tasty delight these burnt butter biscuits are the choice. This recipe is an old Australian favourite and tastes as good as traditional shortbread but is very simple and easy to create. It is definitely a treat.
To make these biscuits, simply:
- Place 170grams of butter into a large saucepan and heat until it is all melted and has turned a slight golden brown colour.
- Cover a baking tray with baking paper (you may need two trays depending on the size)
- Let it cool a little, then mix in with the full packet mix and one large egg.
- Mix this together well.
- Form balls roughly the size of a 50c piece with the mixture and squash it with a fork - alternatively you can roll out the mixture and cut it into shapes for a more traditional shortbread looking biscuit.
- Place these on your baking tray with enough room in between each biscuit.
- Bake your biscuits at 160 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes until they are a light brown.
This mixture will produce 700 grams worth of biscuits.
If you want to change up the recipe, you can also make it as a shortbread slice with your favourite nuts sprinkled on top prior to baking.
