The Organic Sunrise Food Story

Steve and Jacqui, a husband and wife duo, are the people behind Organic Sunrise Foods.. Steve is the coffee roaster with a particular knowledge of the mechanical and engineering necessities for roasting.  Jacqui is the accountant, cook and recipe ‘fine tuner”, and is also the one focused on the edible crops on their property.

Organic food is so important to us, because you need to know what you’re eating! Most ingredient preservatives aren’t good for you and are sometimes not necessary. Whereas, organically grown foods are not dosed in pesticides and herbicides. If these chemicals kill small bugs and insects, just imagine what they’re doing to our bodies.

We live on an old blueberry orchard with 650 bushes - it’s our passion and our love for organic food starts at home and extends out to our brand. Our small 16 acres in the Yarra Valley also features a ‘farm shop’ where people can taste our produce or coffee. We have adopted an organic approach to our entire property and have not used any pesticides, herbicides or additives since we have been here. You can really taste the difference in our tomatoes, vegetables and variety of fruits and herbs.

We started working on Organic Sunrise Foods 11 years ago when we purchased the collection of recipes and the business name. The first recipe we personally added was the Muesli Bar Mix which was our youngest son’s favourite snack. He had a wheat intolerance and loved the flavours and wholesomeness of this recipe. Our personal favourite recipes would be a tough battle between the veggie burger, chocolate mud cake or sunflower and almond muffin - they’re all family favourites!

We are so excited about the future of offering environmentally focused and additive adverse people a convenient and adaptable solution to the products that are currently sold. We know it’s sometimes harder and more expensive to access, but our dream is to allow our grandchildren and great grandchildren to experience food as it should be eaten.

Our farm and our way of living is symbiotic, we have ants that the local echidnas eat, the local wombat does the digging, our bees pollinate our fruit and vegetables and then we get to enjoy their honey. There are bugs and spiders that live in our orchard that the birds feed from, the berries grow well because of the rainfall and when a tree falls, we slab the timber and make chopping boards oiled with a blend of our beeswax and olive oil. It's simple living and it is healthy living.  We want to share this beautiful part of our world with people across the globe and contribute to a better understanding and more affordable and sustainable way of living that is a part of busy modern day living.
